Self Administered Medication Management (SAMM): Self-Administered Medication Management (“SAMM”) is when an individual who has completed Personal Care Service Training, a practitioner or a licensed or registered nurse assists a resident to self-administer medication. This is done by reminding the resident to take medication, checking the package to insure the name on the package is the resident's, observing the resident while he/she take the medication, and documenting in writing the resident's actions regarding the medication.

Limited Medication Administration (LMA): Limited Medication Administration (“LMA”) is an optional service provided by some assisted living residences, often for an additional fee. LMA allows for the administration of non-injectable medications to a resident by a family member, medical practitioner, or a registered or licensed nurse.
