Mass-ALA keeps its finger on the pulse of assisted living in Massachusetts, gathering together each year for a full day of regulatory training to help you stay in compliance. On June 9, 2016, a team of experts will help you explore hot topics related to current regulations, including Mutual Aid/MassMAP, Silver Alert program, HIPAA, incident reports, SCR staffing and recertification. Engage in lively discussions and come away from the Mass-ALA Regulations Educational Session and Mini-Tradeshow with practical tips and tools to provide the best care for your residents. Five CEUs are available for this educational session.

8:45–9:15 am: Opening remarks from Mass-ALA president Richard T. Moore

9:15–10:45 am: Session 1: Mutual Aid/MassMAP
Presenter – Jim Garrow, fire and emergency consultant, Russell Phillips & Associates  

  • General overview of mutual aid requirements in the regulations
  • What is MassMAP? How can it assist you during an emergency?
  • Health & Medical Coordinating Coalitions (HMCC) and how it affects you
  • HHAN alerts

  • Lessons learned from participating in the MassMAP drills
  • What worked? What didn’t?
  • What issues and barriers surfaced?
  • What every ALR should be doing to prepare for deeper compliance and emergency preparedness
